Context and application
Like meta title, Google rewrites the description when it considers your text irrelevant to the specific query. In practice, your description appears ~50% of the time; the rest, Google extracts a relevant snippet from the page. Write a description that works as an “advertorial” — first promo paragraph, with clear benefit + implicit CTA. For product pages, include price + distinctive feature. For articles, the question you answer + what the reader gains.
