Extended definition
The alt attribute on images. Two purposes: accessibility (screen readers) + SEO (Google reads the text as context signal).
Context and application
Alt text is for accessibility primary, SEO secondary — in this order. If you write alt text only for SEO (“SEO audit Brașov, cheap SEO audit, SEO audit 2026”), Google detects keyword stuffing and ignores the signal, plus screen reader users hear noise. Rules: objective image description, max 125 characters, no “image of” or “photo of” (screen reader already announces it’s an image), empty on purely decorative images (alt="") so screen reader skips them.
In practice
descriptive (what the image shows), not keyword-stuffed.
